This loop ride takes in almost all of Wagon Wheel park. As you can see by the mileage this isn't a huge park. There are two single track sections on this route that are quite a bit of fun. They are tight and twisty. The second on Mule Deer lasts almost half a mile. This is the authors choice.
- Directions:
- From the parking lot head south to the second map board and Oak Canyon Trail. Go through the fence. Ride up Oak Canyon, past Vista Ridge trail. Make a left on Sycamore Loop, about 0.2 miles in. Make another left when you get back on Oak Canyon. Stay to the left when you get to Horned Toad Trail and climb to the top of the ridge. Once at the top take the single track to the right. Once at the bottom make a left and follow Oak Canyon Trail another 0.45 miles to the intersection of Vista Ridge, Skink and Mule Deer Trails. Take Skink to the vista and look around for a second at the housing devistation (editorial comment) before heading back down to Mule Deer Trail. Turn left at the intersection and take the Mule Deer single track down to Pheasant Run Trail where you will make a left. After 0.44 miles you will be back on Wagon Wheel Canyon Trail where you will make a right and head back to the parking lot.
